Crab with a taste of Asia

Crab with a taste of Asia

The range of food from Asia is huge, offering lots of flavour variations and a broad spectrum of ingredients. Coconut, curry, chilli, noodles and peanuts are typical regulars in the dishes. We have let ourselves be inspired and developed several crab recipes with an Asian twist.

The flavours that so many people grow fond of when they visit Asia are perfectly possible to recreate at home, even from scratch. In Asian cooking many dishes are simple, with the focus on good ingredients and on food bringing the family together. The dishes are also characterised by the ingredients being cut into small pieces, so that the food takes very little time to prepare.

Many people associate pork with Asian dishes, but several Asian food cultures include seafood in theirs. So why not do the same?

Here we have gathered recipes that give you flavours from a part of the world with a huge range of flavourful food cultures.

Crispy spring rolls with crab, sweet chilli sauce and papaya salad

An Asian classic with crab. Spring rolls are surprisingly easy to make, and for an extra good little meal we have included a papaya salad on the side.

Grilled naan bread with crab masala and cucumber marinated in yoghurt

Indian food is packed with good spices. This dish is no exception in that respect. Masala is probably familiar to most Norwegians, and goes incredibly well with crab. With grilled or warmed naan bread and yoghurt-marinated cucumber, you get a delicious Indian dish.

Asian pancake with crab

Pancakes for dinner need not be boring. Crab goes with everything, as this dish is surely proof of. Here we have a version filled with crab, lettuce, cucumber, carrot and hoisin sauce, topped with chilli mayonnaise. Pancakes will never be the same again.

Crab dumplings

Dumplings are, put simply, "dough wrapped around a filling". In this dish we use gyoza wrappers, which are filled with crab and cabbage, flavoured with ginger, spring onion, soy sauce and Chinese vinegar. This gives you delicious mouthfuls and the flavour of the Far East.

Crab maki

Sushi is easy to eat and easy to make. This maki with chilli mayonnaise is a really tasty treat, and you can make it in 30 minutes. Together with pickled ginger, soy sauce and wasabi, you do not need to leave the house to get a taste of Japan.

Malaysian chilli crab

This dish is a simple and spicy crab dish, which works just as well on the party table as for a cosy weekend.
